Fiammo can text you when someone you know posts. This page is the full description of that program: who sends the messages, what they say, how you turn them on, and how you turn them off.
Who sends these messages
Fiammo sends them. They are automated messages from our application to a person who asked for them, generated by our servers when something happens in the app. They are not messages one person writes to another and we do not relay anyone's typed message to anyone else.
Fiammo is an iPhone app for sharing short written posts with a small group of people you choose, called a circle. When someone is added to a circle and does not have the app, they can choose to follow that circle by text instead. Following by text is what this program is for.
Program: fiammo circle post alerts. Message frequency varies and depends on how often the people in your circle write, typically a few messages a week. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to cancel. Reply HELP for help, or email [email protected].
What we send
Three kinds of message, and nothing else. No marketing, no promotions, no messages from any other business.
Two of those do different jobs and it is worth separating them. The one-time code proves the phone is yours: you ask for it, it arrives once, and it is the same code we use to sign you in if you later make an account. The post alert is the standing subscription: it keeps arriving until you stop it, which is why it is the one you have to tick a box to start. The box has to be ticked before we send anything at all, including the code, so no message of any kind reaches a phone whose owner has not agreed on this page first.

One-time code, sent when you ask us to confirm your number
Your fiammo verification code is: 402913Codes are delivered by Twilio Verify, so the exact wording is Twilio's. When fiammo sends a code from its own number instead, the body is:Your fiammo code is 402913. Don't share it with anyone. -
Confirmation, sent once, immediately after you opt in
fiammo: You're confirmed for new-post alerts from Jordan. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe, HELP for help. -
Post alert, the recurring message you opted in to
fiammo: Jordan shared a new post. Read it: https://fiammo.co/p/34j2avpx/Jm4tQ8abcd Reply STOP to opt out.
A post alert never quotes the post. Posts on fiammo disappear 24 hours after they are written, and a text does not, so the alert says only that there is something to read and links to a page where the post still follows its own rules. The link works for that one post and only on the phone that confirmed the number.
How you opt in
There is one way to join this program, and it always begins with a person adding you to their circle in the fiammo app. We never text a number that has not completed the steps below.
-
Someone adds you to their circle and texts you an invitation. That invitation comes from their own phone and their own number, written in their own Messages app. Fiammo does not send it. It carries a link to the confirmation page on fiammo.co.
-
You open the link and see the offer. The page names who added you, and offers two ways to follow them: install the app, or get their posts by text. Nothing has been sent to your phone by fiammo at this point.
The confirmation page, as served. The consent checkbox is unchecked and the button is disabled until it is ticked. -
You type your own phone number and tick the consent box. The box is unchecked when the page loads and nothing is submitted until you tick it yourself. It reads:
Yes, text me when Jordan posts. These are automated messages from fiammo. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help.
Ticking the box is what enables the button. Nobody is enrolled without doing this. -
We text a 6-digit code to that number and you type it back into the page. The code only ever goes to the number on the invitation, never to a number typed in by someone else, which is how we know the person consenting is the person holding the phone.
The code step. A code lasts 10 minutes and dies after five wrong tries. -
You are opted in, and we say so in a text. The confirmation message above is the first message this program sends you. From then on you get one post alert each time that person writes.
The end of the flow. The opt-out instruction is repeated here and in every message that follows.
Reviewing this page? The confirmation page above is reachable without an invitation at fiammo.co/accept?token=sample-review. It is a permanent sample that renders the real page and the real consent language against placeholder data, so it never expires and never consumes a live invitation. It opens with a short notice saying it is a sample, so nobody waits for a code that is not coming. The screenshots below were captured from that page without that notice, so they show it exactly as an invited person sees it.
The opt-in form
This is the consent control itself, reproduced from the confirmation page so it can be read here. It is shown at rest and does not submit anything.
By ticking that box you also agree to fiammo's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
How to stop
Reply STOP to any message from fiammo and the messages end. Twilio blocks the number at the carrier layer immediately, and our own records are updated in the same moment so we stop selecting you at all. To start again, text START to the same number.
You can also leave before you ever receive a post alert by choosing "no thanks" on the confirmation page, and an invitation that goes unanswered expires on its own after 30 days.
How to get help
Reply HELP to any message from fiammo, or email [email protected]. Our support page has more.
